Welcome to The Mansfield Institute For Digital Humanities
Our Inspiring Journey
Innovative Projects and Tools
Welcome to our Digital Humanities practice-based research institute, where technology and culture converge to redefine our understanding of heritage and humanities. Our mission is to lead innovation in the field, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and groundbreaking research that brings new insights into the cultural narratives shaping our world.
We are dedicated to exploring how digital tools and methodologies can transform the study and preservation of literature, art, history, and more. Our work bridges the gap between traditional humanities scholarship and cutting-edge technology, making cultural heritage accessible, engaging, and meaningful to diverse audiences.
Research Expertise
Our expertise lies at the intersection of the humanities and data science. With a strong foundation in Digital Humanities, we leverage advanced data analysis, visualisation techniques, and computational tools to unravel complex narratives within literature, the arts, and culture. Our projects are informed by a deep academic grounding, including:
- A master's degree in Data Science (Digital Humanities) at Durham University.
- Digital Humanities Summer School at The University of Oxford, where advanced methodologies for exploring cultural data were honed.
- A BA (Hons) in Creative and Professional Writing from Bangor University, which enriches our analytical pursuits with narrative sensitivity and creative insight.
Our research delves into the digital transformation of cultural heritage, employing technologies like Progressive Web Applications (PWAs), data visualisation, and machine learning to analyse and interpret humanistic data. Projects include the integration of storytelling with digital archives, the use of data analytics in understanding cultural trends, and collaborations with creative industries to produce innovative multimedia content.
As advocates of digital innovation, we also focus on democratising access to cultural heritage, ensuring that digital tools empower both scholars and the wider public. By blending creativity, technical proficiency, and academic rigour, we aim to redefine what is possible in the Digital Humanities, creating a space where technology and tradition thrive together.
Join us as we shape the future of cultural heritage and humanities research through digital innovation.
